Subtitles are a small file containing text and timing - the time when titles appear on the screen and fade out. The srt format is the simplest and most common. Subtitles can be made for a video clip made by yourself, for a film in a foreign language, etc.
Necessary
- - computer
- - DivXLand Media Subtitler program
- - video file
Instructions
Step 1
Download and install the free DivXLand Media Subtitler subtitling software. Start it up. Open the required video file: File - Open video. On the right side you will see a window with a video player. Create new subtitles: File - New subtitle. The text you enter will be displayed on the left side of the program window.
Step 2
Click on Play in the player and wait until the phrase ends, stop playback and write down the subtitle text in the small box at the bottom left. To add the next caption, click Edit - Add caption - Below current. It is better to make many lines at once, and then enter text into them (after selecting the corresponding line with the mouse). When all the necessary text is recorded, proceed to overlay subtitles and create timing
Step 3
Use the Press and hold mode as desired, for this, check the box next to it. While the video is playing, hold down the Apply button at the bottom, when the desired phrase is spoken, release the button. The highlighted subtitle line will be on the screen as long as the phrase is being pronounced - for each title, its time of appearance on the screen is recorded. Press Play again and continue the same sequence of actions.
Step 4
If this is more convenient for you, use the Manual mode. To work with it, the buttons Start, Next and End are provided. Press Start and the subtitle will be shown on the screen. When a new voice phrase begins, press Next to display the next line. If there is a pause between the phrases, click End and wait until the speech will sound again, and then turn on the Start button again.
Step 5
Use the Preview only mode to play a video clip along with subtitles and check the result of your work.
Step 6
Save the subtitle file to your computer: File - Save as. Select the subtitle type - srt and click OK. Select the file name, it should be the same as the name of the movie file and be in the same folder. For example, if the video file is named Movie.avi, name the subtitle file Movie.srt. Save.
