Subtitles in films open up a lot of opportunities for hearing impaired people, as well as in those cases when you want to watch a movie in its original voice acting without translation and dubbing - for the sake of aesthetic pleasure or training in a foreign language. Subtitles will help you keep track of the meaning of the film, and at the same time you will be able to listen to the lines of the characters with the original voices of the actors. In this article, we will show you how to enable subtitles in your movie.
Instructions
Step 1
It is best to use a functional video viewer with external subtitles for this - for example, VobSub. This program allows you to connect subtitles without superimposing them on the movie, or overlay subtitles, if desired, using the TextSub filter, which must be checked for installation during installation in the Plugins section.
Step 2
To make viewing and overlaying subtitles more convenient, give the subtitle file a name that matches the name of the movie file. In this case, when you start the movie, subtitles with the same name will automatically open with it.
Step 3
If the chronology of the subtitles differs slightly from the film - they are lagging or vice versa run ahead of the original sound and text, you can move the subtitles back and forth in real mode using VobSub.
Step 4
In addition, Subtitle Workshop will help you synchronize subtitles with your movie more accurately and accurately, providing you with even more options for working with movie titles.
Step 5
If you want to permanently merge subtitles with a movie, use the TextSub filter, which was mentioned just above.
Step 6
To merge titles and videos, you need another utility - VirtualDub. This small free video editing program allows you to merge together a video file and subtitles in several formats - srt, sub, ssa, smi, pcb and ass.
Step 7
In the directory for VirtualDub plugins, install the subtitle filter and then open the video file. Go to the Video menu, open the filters section, click Add and select TextSub from the list. After that click "Open" and load the desired subtitles.
Step 8
In the Video Compression menu, specify the bitrate and encoding type for your movie, and then save the file under a new name with attached subtitles, specifying the Full Proceccing Mode parameter when saving.
Step 9
First, check if the font and language in the subtitles are correctly installed so that they are displayed correctly in the Text Settings section of the VobSub program.
