When you turn it on for the first time, a new laptop will not immediately be ready for use. First you need to activate it. This is done in different ways, depending on the presence or absence of a preinstalled operating system.
Instructions
Step 1
Check with the retailer when purchasing if any operating system is preinstalled on your laptop. This information will help you determine how to activate your new laptop. In any case, when activating a new laptop (regardless of the presence of an operating system), make sure that the battery is inserted into the laptop and the device is connected to the mains. Ensuring an uninterrupted power supply is necessary to ensure that no malfunctions occur during activation, as if it is abruptly canceled, the laptop may be damaged.
Step 2
Press the power button, making sure the laptop is plugged in and the battery is installed. After that, on an unactivated laptop, the installation of the operating system starts, the distribution of which is recorded on a special hidden section of the hard drive. Follow carefully all stages of the installation of the operating system. If during installation you need to enter an activation key, you can find it on a special sticker, which is usually located on the bottom cover of the laptop. Never turn off the power until the operating system installation is complete. Upon completion, the laptop will be activated and ready to work.
Step 3
Install the operating system from external media, if it was sold without preinstalled software. To do this, purchase the distribution kit of the desired operating system on a CD, connect the laptop to the network, press the power button, and then insert the disk (or flash card, if the laptop does not have a drive) with the operating system, and then install it on the computer. The activation key will be in the box with the CD containing the operating system.
