You can replenish the laptop battery while on a long-distance train using the sockets located in compartment cars and SV cars. They are nominally designed for mobile phones and electric shavers, but conductors usually do not interfere with other uses. The complexity of the procedure depends on the carriage. In modern ones, there is a socket in every compartment, in others only in the corridor and near the toilet.
Necessary
- - a cord for connecting a laptop to an outlet;
- - extension cord (depending on the type of carriage).
Instructions
Step 1
Charge the laptop battery to full capacity before traveling. If you have a spare, removable battery, charge it as well. This precaution will not be superfluous if difficulties arise with charging along the way.
Step 2
Take the cord that connects your laptop to a power outlet.
Step 3
Take an extension cord as well. The length of the wire depends on the location of your compartment. In Soviet-style cars, the socket in the corridor is usually located closer to the middle. The most distant places from it are from 1 to 4 and from 33 to 36. In NE, respectively, 1 and 2 at the beginning of the car and 17 and 18 at the end.
Step 4
Grab a tee in case someone else of the passengers wants to use the socket in the carriage corridor at the same time. This precaution will help avoid conflicts.
Step 5
Plug your laptop's cord into a power outlet if you're lucky enough to get into the carriage, which has one in every compartment.
Step 6
Use the socket in the corridor if you are caught in an old-style carriage. Insert the extension cord into it and stretch it to yourself in the compartment. Otherwise, you will have to stand in the hallway or vestibule in front of the toilet all the time while the battery is being charged. If you are traveling in a reserved seat or in a shared carriage, the only way to recharge your laptop is at the outlet at the toilet, so there is no choice. It's up to you to decide whether to spend a few hours in an inconvenient place or leave your laptop unattended.
Step 7
Consult the conductor for the simultaneous plugging of multiple devices if occupied by another passenger. If the conductor is against, it is better not to insist: he knows better the features of the car's power supply. But try to negotiate with other passengers to use the outlet alternately.
