Step 1

Call the main system menu by clicking the "Start" button to carry out the procedure for disconnecting the CD-, DVD-drive and go to the "Control Panel" item. Expand the Administrative Tools link and expand the Computer Management node.

Step 2

Select the item "Device Manager" and go to the "DVD & CD-ROM Drives" tab of the dialog box that opens. Call the context menu of the device to be disconnected by right-clicking and specifying the Disconnect command.

Step 3

Return to the main system menu "Start" to disable the autorun function of the selected drive and go to the "Run" dialog. Enter the value of gpedit.msc in the "Open" line and confirm the launch of the utility by clicking the OK button.

Expand the Computer Configuration link in the opened editor window and expand the Administrative Templates node. Go to the "System" section and select the "Disable AutoPlay" policy.

Step 8

Change the value of the AutoRun parameter in the HKLM / System / CurrentControlSet / Services / CDrom branch to 0 in Windows 7 / Vista and use the FF value for the NoDriveTypeAutoRun parameter (for Windows Vista / 7).
