Formatting (completely resetting) a smartphone is the destruction of user information on the device. Thus, the smartphone returns to factory settings, and all installed applications are removed. This may be required in cases of improper operation ("glitches") of the smartphone.
Instructions
Step 1
First, save your contacts to a memory card, if necessary. Open the list of contacts, select "Options" -> "Mark / remove" -> "Mark all". Then "Functions" -> "Copy" -> "To a memory card". After that, delete all folders with installed applications from the memory card, since after a full reset they will not work, which can cause certain errors. Then pull out the memory card.
Step 2
Nokia smartphones can be formatted in one of the following ways. First, dial * # 7370 #. Then enter the confirmation code for formatting the smartphone. Typically 12345 is the default, unless you have changed it.
Step 3
Use the second option when the first does not bring results, or the smartphone does not turn on. Perform the following steps with the device turned off. Press three keys at the same time: call key, 3, *. Without releasing them, press the power button of the smartphone. After a while, a splash screen will appear informing you about the formatting.
Step 4
For some Nokia smartphones, you need to hold down the other three keys:
- N78: *, 3, multimedia key;
- N97: left shift, space, backspace;
- 5800: call button (green tube), end call button (red tube), photo button;
- E55: spacebar, #, backspace.
Step 5
After that, the smartphone will reboot. For several minutes (about five) the screen will light up without any other information. At this time, do not perform any actions with the smartphone, but wait until it turns on in standard mode.
Step 6
To reset the factory settings in Samsung smartphones, enter * 2767 * 2878 #, then enter the confirmation code - 00000000 (eight zeros). For full formatting, hold down the following three buttons: 8, 0, power button.
Step 7
To format the memory of a Siemens SX1 smartphone, simultaneously hold down three keys: *, #, power button.
