In many cases, a pre-created image helps prevent the loss of important files and settings in the event of an operating system failure. This can be done even without using additional programs.

Instructions
Step 1
First, create an image of your operating system using standard Windows tools. Open the start menu and go to the control panel. Select the "System and Security" menu and open it. Navigate to the Backup and Restore menu.
Step 2
Find the item "Create a system image" in the left column and click on it. A window will appear on the screen in which you should specify the location for storing the image. This can be an area on your hard drive, DVDs, or another computer connected to your local network.
Step 3
Select one of the items and click the "Next" button. A window will appear on the screen containing a list of disks to be backed up. To start this process, click the "Archive" button.
Step 4
To successfully recover your computer in the event of an operating system failure, you must create a special disk. Open the Backup and Restore menu. Select Create System Restore Disc. Insert a blank DVD into your drive and click the Create Disc button.
Step 5
Now try creating a system image using Partition Magic. Install this utility on your computer and run it.
Step 6
Select Power User Mode. Open the "Wizards" menu located in the main navigation pane. Select Archive Disk or Partition.
Step 7
Click "Next". Select the hard disk partition where the operating system is installed. Click "Next".
Step 8
Select a location for the future system image. It is recommended to indicate either the hard drives that are currently active or DVD drives. Click "Next".
Step 9
Select the disk partition or DVD media to which the system image will be saved. Click "Next". Provide comments for this image. Click the Next button twice and then the Finish button. To start the archiving process, click the "Apply pending changes" button located under the main navigation menu.
