Those who deal with formulas and calculations sometimes need to enter special characters into a text file: signs of mathematical operations, indices, letters of the Greek alphabet …
Necessary
Microsoft Office Word
Instructions
Step 1
In older versions of MS Word, the editor Microsoft Equation 3.0 is used to insert formulas into the text. From the Insert menu, select the Object command. In the Object Type list, check Microsoft Equation 3.0 and click OK. An editor field (rectangular selection with its own cursor) and a formula bar will appear in the document. Characters are entered into this field. To place an expression under a root, an integral sign, or enclose it in brackets, first select it with the mouse, then select the desired sign on the formula bar
Step 2
Each button on the panel opens a group of symbols. When you hover over the buttons, a tooltip will appear. To exit the formula editor, click outside the box.
Step 3
To get quick access to the editor, you need to display the access button on the toolbar. Move your cursor over the toolbar and right-click. In the drop-down menu, select the "Customize" option. Go to the "Commands" tab and find "Formula Editor" on the right side of the window. Hook it up with the mouse and drag it to the toolbar
Step 4
If you have not found Microsoft Equation 3.0 in the "Insert" menu, then it is not included by default in your version of MS Word. Go to the "Control Panel" and expand the icon "Add or Remove Programs". Find Microsoft Office in the list and click Change. In the "Maintenance mode" window, select the "Add or remove components" option.
Step 5
Click the + sign to the left of Office Tools. In the drop-down list, select "Formula Editor" and click "Refresh". If necessary, insert the MS Office installation disc into the drive. After installing the add-ons, the computer needs to be restarted.
Step 6
MS Word 2007 has a built-in ability to work with formulas. In the main menu, select "Menu", then "Insert". Find the "Formula" option. You can choose a ready-made formula from the list or create your own. Select the variables in the finished formula with the mouse to replace them with other values
Step 7
Use the Insert New Formula command to create your own formula. An input field and a symbol bar appear in the document. On the panel, click the arrow buttons to expand lists of formulas, symbols, and structures. When you hover over the buttons, as in the previous version of the formula editor, a tooltip will appear. To place a symbol in the formula, click on the button with its image.
