Clearing the list of visited pages allows you to maintain the privacy of user information and frees up precious space on your computer's hard drive. The operation of deleting unnecessary files is performed by standard tools of the Microsoft Windows operating system and does not require the involvement of additional third-party programs.
Instructions
Step 1
Launch Internet Explorer and open the Tools menu in the top toolbar of the application window.
Step 2
Select the "Internet Options" item and go to the "History" sub-item to clear the browsing history of web pages (for Internet Explorer).
Step 3
Press the "Clear" button and confirm the execution of the command by pressing the OK button (for Internet Explorer).
Step 4
Go to the item "Temporary Internet files" and click the "Delete files" button to clear copies of all previously visited web pages (for Internet Explorer).
Step 5
Open a new tab of the Chrome browser by pressing Ctrl + T at the same time to perform a cleanup operation (for Google Chrome).
Step 6
Move the mouse cursor over the selected page in the "Frequently visited sites" list and click on the "x" icon in the upper right corner of the specified page to remove it from the list (for Google Chrome).
Step 7
Click on the Frequently Visited Sites field to reduce the size of the selected list and display only site names instead of web page thumbnails (for Google Chrome).
Step 8
Hover the mouse cursor over the list area and wait for the “x” icon to appear in the upper right corner (for Google Chrome).
Step 9
Hide the "Frequently Visited Sites" list by clicking on the icon that appears (for Google Chrome).
Keep in mind that Microsoft Office applications also keep track of the last few Web locations visited from those programs.
Step 10
Open the desired Microsoft Office application and go to the File menu in the top toolbar of the application window.
Step 11
Select the "Recent" item to view the list of the last visited web pages and call the context menu of the required element by right-clicking.
Step 12
Select the "Attach to List" command to save the selected item.
Step 13
Select the "Remove from list" command to clear the browsing history of the selected web page.
Step 14
Select the "Delete all unpinned files" command to clear the browsing history of unsaved web pages and click the "Yes" button to confirm the command.
