Ideal images exist only in ideal representations. Real photographs almost always require revision and error correction. Adobe Photoshop contains a variety of tools and commands designed to enhance the quality of photographic images, such as brightness and color saturation. All Photoshop color display commands are stored in the Adjustments submenu under Image.

Step 1
Open the image file in Photoshop using the File, Open menu.
To keep the option to always return to the original image, create a copy of the layer. To do this, select the Layer menu, Duplicate Layer. Make sure the newly created layer is active. It is advisable to perform all further transformations on it.
Step 2
Adjust the contrast and overall color of your shot automatically using the Image, Adjustments, Auto Contrast command. The contrast adjustment displays the darkest and lightest pixels in an image in black and white. This transformation can improve the overall look of many photos.
Step 3
Some original images contain color casts, i.e. unbalanced colors. To fix this, use the command Image, Adjustments, Auto Color. This command adjusts the contrast and color of your image by searching for dark and light tones in the image and neutralizing intermediate tones.
Step 4
If the results of the automatic correction commands did not meet your expectations, try changing some of the parameters manually. The Brightness / Contrast command is the simplest way to tint the entire image.
In the Brightness / Contrast dialog box, move the sliders to change the brightness and contrast in the range from -100 to +100.
Step 5
Use the Color Balance command to color correct your image and enhance colors in a specific range, such as red. The dialog box of this command allows you to change the color balance in the entire image. Color balance is set separately for colors (Highlights switch), midtones (Midtones switch), and shadows (Shadows switch). When working, it is useful to check the Preserve Luminosity checkbox, which prevents the brightness range from changing when adjusting the color balance.
Step 6
Save the image under a new name by choosing "Save as" from the File menu.
