In video editing, one of the key concepts is the rhythm of the video. The video should not be jerky: it is extremely important to maintain the same speed and dynamics of what is happening. Such smoothness is achieved, first of all, by changing the length of the editing splices, but you can get a similar effect much easier - simply by slowing down or speeding up the playback.
Instructions
Step 1
Place the video on the timeline.
Step 2
Select the Insert menu item. Inside - Vide Envelops, then Event Velocity. A green bar will appear on the clip to indicate the speed at which the clip is playing. When you hover your mouse over the line, you will see a 100% mark. This means that the video is running at 100% of the original speed.
Step 3
Click on the strip and, without releasing the mouse button, move the cursor down. The straight line will turn into a concave arc starting from the nearest square marker. The playback speed will become proportional to the position of the arc at each point: the closer it is to the middle, the faster the video goes, the lower, the slower. Please note that if you move the line down as far as possible, the video will not only slow down, but will start playing in the opposite direction.
Step 4
Create markers on the green line to independently adjust the smoothness of the speed change. Click on the strip twice. The line will be divided by a small square. Create a similar one to the right.
Step 5
Move the right slider up or down. Note that the smooth transition described in step 3 has now been replaced with a straight line between the two points. By adjusting the distance between them, you can change the speed and duration of the transition.
Step 6
There is an alternative way to change the speed. Divide the video into several separate frames (you can do this with the S key). Click on one of the cut pieces with the right mouse button, select Properties. The properties menu will appear. The Playback Rate is set to 1.000 - change it to any other to speed up (> 1) or slow down (
