Categories and sections in the Joomla management system are designed to group all your materials. This is done in this way: the section is one or several categories in which the materials of the site are placed. Each of them can only be in one category.

Step 1
Log in to your Joomla admin panel to create a category. Go to the "Content" menu, select "Sections". Click on the "New" button. In the window that opens, enter the name of the section to be created and a title, for example, "News".

Go to the "Content" menu, select the "Categories" option. Click on the "New" button. In the window that opens, enter a title and a name for the created category, for example, "Sports News". Below, select the desired section in which you want to place the category. For example, click on the "News" section. Save your changes. Category adding completed successfully.
Step 3
Make sure the Joomla category creation is done correctly. To do this, click on the "Content" menu, move the cursor over the first tab, it contains the content of the site, divided into sections, the created section will appear in it. Go into it, to do this, click on the "Section content" tab. You will be taken to a page that displays a list of content. Click on the "New" button. In the editor that opens, enter the name of the page, select the created category and save the changes.
Step 4
Add news to the category. To do this, go to the admin panel of your site. On the main page of the panel, click on the "Add news / article" button, you will be moved to the page editor. Similarly, create a page, select a section for it and a category where it will be placed, enter the name of the link to the article.
Step 5
Add the link to the page to the desired menu. To do this, go to the "Menu", click on the "New" button. In the link creation window that opens, click "Link" - "Content Object", mark the created page. Enter the name and click "OK".
