Instructions

Step 1

Launch the program and open your photo. To do this, select the "Open" command from the "File" menu and specify the directory where your image is located. Adobe Photoshop initially has several built-in tools for working with brightness, there are differences between them, but you can only understand which one is more suitable in your case.

Step 2

Select the "Correction" item and the "Levels" sub-item in the "Image" menu. A new dialog box will open. In the Input Values group, drag the sliders to the right or left until you achieve the desired effect. To apply the new settings to the image, click on the "Yes" button.

Step 3

To adjust the contrast and brightness of the photo, in the "Image" menu, select the item "Correction" and the sub-item "Brightness / Contrast". In the dialog box that appears, use the "sliders" to adjust or enter the desired values in the fields provided for this.

Step 4

The values can be either positive (increase in brightness) or negative (decrease in brightness, respectively). To evaluate in real time how the processed photo will look at certain settings, put a marker in the "View" field. Apply the created effect with the "Yes" button.

Step 5

To adjust the saturation and brightness of colors, in the same menu "Image" select the item "Correction" and the sub-item "Hue / Saturation". In the dialog box of the tool, both the entire image and individual channels can be corrected.

Step 6

Sometimes a better result can be achieved with additional installed filters. So, for example, using the Viveza filter, you can adjust the brightness of a photo, contrast, color saturation and image clarity in one operation.

Step 7

These tools are installed as standalone applications or added to the Plug-in folder in the Photoshop directory. Look for the installed plugin in the "Filter" menu.
