Electronic books have become so widespread in our time that there is no need to explain their advantages over paper ones. If you have a paper book or a text book, then it is quite possible that you want to make an e-book out of it.
To do this, there are many special programs that convert simple Word files into full-fledged e-books.
Let's look at how to create an e-book using one of the simplest and most convenient programs - STDU Converter as an example. This program is available for free download on the developer's website. It converts recognized scanned files into the most common e-book format - PDF.
After downloading the archive, install the program and run it. After launching the Portable_STDU_Converter application, you will see an interface with two windows - in one you will be prompted to select the source file, and in the other you will indicate the path where the created PDf file will be saved. After choosing the file and path you need, you can start the conversion using the "Convert" button. During the conversion process, its "Stop Conversion" function will be active.
Separately, it is worth considering the button "Advanced mode" located at the bottom, which will allow you to manage the settings of the book. In advanced mode, there are three tabs: General, Pages, and Outlines.
The "General" tab offers to fill in such fields as "Author", "Title", "Subject", "Keyword". The advantage of the program is that all these fields can be filled in in Russian. The Pages tab controls the background color, font, and page position (they can be rotated 180 or 90 degrees). You can also remove unnecessary pages (for example, title pages, table of contents, or other items you don't need). Finally, the Paths tab allows you to create bookmarks in your book. To do this, in the "Contours" tab, select "Add a new scheme" and enter the number of the page we need there.
After you have selected the settings you need, you can click the "Convert" button. The program will do the rest for you, just keep in mind that in the case of a large volume of text or complex illustrations, the conversion process can take quite a long time (up to half an hour).
After that, we save the resulting PDF file. As you can see, making an e-book is not difficult at all.
