If more than one operating system is installed on the computer, then by default, during the boot process, the user is offered a menu for selecting the desired OS. It closes by timer (usually after 20-30 seconds). If you do not use this menu, then there is no need to endure an extra 20-30 seconds each time. It is better to change the corresponding settings of the operating system once and completely eliminate the procedure for selecting the OS at boot time.
Instructions
Step 1
In the case of Windows Vista or Windows 7, the operation to change the settings must be started by opening the program launch dialog box. This can be done by pressing the WIN + R hotkeys. Alternative option: in the main menu (on the "Start" button), select the "Run" line.
Step 2
In a dialog opened this way, type the msconfig command. Or you can not print, but copy here (CTRL + C) and paste into the appropriate field (CTRL + V). To execute the entered command, click the "OK" button (or press Enter).
Step 3
In the program you are running with the heading "System Configuration", go to the "Download" tab. The list of OS that is used in the menu offered to you at each boot is posted here. The utility provides the ability to edit it. After deleting all unnecessary lines, click OK. This completes the change of settings.
Step 4
Another option will work not only in Windows Vista and Windows 7, but also in Windows XP. To use it, press the hotkeys WIN + Pause. In this way, you will open an information window titled "System" (or "System Properties" in Windows XP).
Step 5
In Windows Vista and Seven, this window has a left pane and a link with the text "Advanced System Settings" in it. Click it to open the System Settings window. This superfluous step does not exist in Windows XP.
Step 6
You need the "Advanced" tab, which opens by default. In its lower section ("Startup and Recovery"), click the "Options" button.
Step 7
In this way, you will reach a window with a drop-down list "Operating system loaded by default" located in it. In it, select the OS that you want to boot without waiting for user selection, and then uncheck the box next to "Display a list of operating systems".
Step 8
To commit the changes made to the OS configuration, click the "OK" button.
