To ensure stable operation of the router with some providers, you must use the latest firmware versions. Updating the router's firmware allows you to correct errors in its operation and improve its performance.

Instructions
Step 1
First, update the drivers for the network card that you will be connecting to the router. If you are setting up a wireless access point, update the working Wi-Fi files of the laptop or computer adapter. Visit the manufacturer's website for your custom router.
Step 2
Go to the downloads section. Find the latest firmware version for this router model. If your provider recommends using a specific driver version, do not ignore this advice. Some networks do not require the latest firmware to connect to.
Step 3
If the files downloaded from the site are in a compressed archive, be sure to unpack them. Connect the network cable supplied with the router to the LAN port of your laptop or computer. Its other end is connected to the Internet (WAN) connector of the router.
Step 4
Launch any web browser. Enter the IP address of the router in the url field of this program. Check its original meaning in the user manual for the network equipment. Press the Enter key to enter the device web interface.
Step 5
Open the Advanced menu and select Firmware or Update. Click the Browse button and select the bin file downloaded from the file. Wait for the message that the firmware update was completed successfully. If the router does not reboot automatically, follow this procedure.
Step 6
If a failure occurred during the firmware, for example, the router was disconnected from the AC power supply, restore the operating parameters of the device. To do this, visit the manufacturer's official website again and download the very first version of the firmware.
Step 7
Press the Reset button located on the router case and hold it for 10-15 seconds. Change the properties of the network card, a static IP address is specified. Check its meaning on the manufacturer's website in the FAQ section.
Step 8
Download Putty program and drivers to connect to the router. Load working files into the device memory using the specified program. After that, install the original firmware version for the network equipment.
