To change the system date in Windows, it is not at all necessary to understand the structure of the BIOS control panel of your computer - this can be done in the familiar graphical interface of the OS. There are some differences in the sequence of actions for different versions of the system.
Instructions
Step 1
If you have Windows XP, double-click on the clock in the right corner of the taskbar to open the window for changing the computer's date and time settings.
Step 2
Set the correct year value in the corresponding field on the "Date and Time" tab, which will be opened by default. To do this, you can click the arrows on the interface or enter the desired number from the keyboard.
Step 3
Select the correct month from the drop-down list.
Step 4
Left-click on today's date in the table of days of the month and week located below the year and month selection boxes.
Step 5
Highlight the hour in the time setting field in the right pane (Time) of this tab and set the correct number of hours. To do this, you can use the arrow keys, you can enter numbers from the keyboard, or you can click the arrows next to the input field. Set the correct values for minutes and seconds in the same way.
Step 6
Click OK to commit your changes to the system date and time.
Step 7
If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, the steps should be slightly different. Start by double-clicking on the clock in the corner of the taskbar.
Step 8
Click the link "Change date and time settings", which is placed under the calendar and clock in the window that opens. This will open another window - "Date and Time".
Step 9
Click the button labeled "Change date and time" to open another window.
Step 10
Select the desired month of the desired year by clicking the arrows in the calendar, and then select today's date in it.
Step 11
Set the correct values for hours, minutes and seconds in the right pane of this window - this is done in the same way as described in the fifth step for Windows XP.
Step 12
Click OK to fix the new system time and date.
