At creation of each file, attributes are assigned to it: archive, hidden, system, author, date and time of creation. After the changes have been made, the file date is changed to a new one. This is not always convenient if you are used to sorting files by creation time.

Instructions

Step 1

Everyone has their own preferences for organizing order on the computer. Someone likes to organize folders and files by name, someone by size, and someone is comfortable keeping them in order of arrival. If you are one of those people, and every time you suffer when you have to search for the desired file for a long time after changing it, try adjusting the date of the files you need using the Total Commander or Far Manager programs.

Step 2

To change the attributes of a file (or multiple files) using Far Manager, do the following. Run the program, select the file you want, then press F9. On the menu bar that appears at the top, select Files - File attributes. A menu will open where you can change all possible file attributes.

Step 3

To change the date and other attributes of a file (or several files) using the Total Commander program, start the program and select the required file. Now click on the Files - Change Attributes menu. You will see a window in which you can change all the attributes of the file, including the date.

Step 4

Far Manager is free, but it doesn't have a very user-friendly interface for modern users. Total Commander has a more user-friendly interface, but you have to pay for its long-term use.
