Instructions
Step 1
To perform a system recovery, restart your computer and press the F8 function key several times while the BIOS boots. Select, using the arrow keys, in the list of boot options, the item "Safe Mode". When working in this mode, only basic files and drivers (mouse, keyboard, monitor, disks, standard services) are loaded.
Step 2
Select the operating system to boot from the list and press Enter. After that, log in to the system with administrator rights. A window will open prompting you to select "Work in Safe Mode" or use "System Restore". Select recovery by pressing the "No" button.
Step 3
The initial screen of the System Restore Wizard will open. Set the switch to "Restore the computer to an earlier state" and click "Next". A window will pop up, split in two at the bottom. In the left window there is a calendar with bold-highlighted days with restore points. Set the date on which to restore the system state. After that, a list of all available restore points for that date will be displayed in the right window. Select a point and click "Next".
Step 4
In the next window, click "Next" again to confirm the selection of the control point. After that, the computer will reboot and System Restore will start. At the end of the recovery process, a message will be displayed about the successful completion of the operation, or you will be prompted to select another checkpoint for recovery in case of failure.
Step 5
Once booted into Safe Mode, System Restore can be started from the command line. If you decide to restore the system in this way, then at boot, select "Boot in safe mode with command line support", and then, after logging in, enter the command% systemroot% system32
