Safe mode is often used to remove spyware or certain viruses that cannot be removed in normal mode. You can also try starting the system in safe mode if it refuses to start normally.
Instructions
Step 1
Restart your computer if it is already on. Then, after the system speaker beeps shortly, press the F8 key. If you did everything correctly, you will soon see a screen with a choice of system boot options.
Step 2
Select Safe Mode from this list, then press Enter.
Step 3
Pay attention to the window that will appear before the sense of working with the system (as shown in the figure). Select the option "Yes", after which you can start working on your PC. Please note that in this case the system loading will be slightly different from the mode you are used to. the system will load the very minimum required for work. The same applies to all drivers - only standard system components will be used.
Step 4
You can also choose other options in the system boot options menu: Use the Safe Mode with Network Drivers Loading option to boot the system using only basic services and drivers, as well as with the ability to work over the network.
Step 5
Select "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" to replace the standard Windows GUI with a command prompt. All work will be done using special commands. For a complete list of them, use the "help" command.
Step 6
Refer to the "Enable Boot Logging" option if you need a complete audit of the system boot process. In this case, when loading, the ntbtlog.txt file will be created, which is stored in the% windir% directory. It stores information about all loaded and unloaded drivers and services, so a careful analysis of this file will allow you to determine the exact reason for the system failure during normal boot.
Step 7
Use the "Enable VGA Mode" item if you suspect that the reason for the system failure is incorrectly installed video card drivers. In this case, the main video driver will be used.
Step 8
Refer to Last Known Good Configuration to attempt to boot the system with the settings since the last successful boot. All changes made after a successful system boot earlier will be deleted.
