With the advent of the graphical interface of the Windows operating system, all applications began to open in separate windows. Each user performs the operations of opening, closing, minimizing and expanding them, as a rule, without thinking or even paying attention to the fact that he is manipulating with windows, and not videos, games, editors, etc. This is because the methods provided for these operations are very simple.
Instructions
Step 1
Click the icon with a cross located in the upper right corner of the application window - this is the most elementary method of closing any window provided in the graphical interface of the operating system.
Step 2
Use the hotkeys that duplicate the click on the close window icon in all modern versions of Windows. By default, this is a combination of the alt="Image" and F4 buttons, although this can be changed using various specialized programs.
Step 3
Right-click the icon of an open program window on the taskbar to access the context menu, which contains the command you need. It can be worded in different ways depending on the version of the installed operating system - for example, in Windows 7 it will be the line "Close window". You usually have to resort to this option in cases of any problems in the operation of the application that do not allow you to use the methods described in the previous steps.
Step 4
Start Task Manager if the program's problems are so severe that it cannot be closed using the taskbar. To do this, press the key combination Ctrl + alt="Image" + Delete. If you are using a version of Windows 7, the manager will not start right away, but an additional menu will open on the full screen, in which you need to select the very bottom line - "Start Task Manager".
Step 5
Find the problematic program in the list located on the "Applications" tab, select its line and click the "End task" button. The same can be done by right-clicking this line and selecting the item with the same wording "End task" in the pop-up context menu.
