If some processes are launched by someone's evil will without your knowledge, and then parasitize on RAM, you can try to "shut off the oxygen to these silicon bastards." This can be done using simple manipulations with computer services.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the Run dialog box. This can be done in at least two ways. First: click the "Start" button - the input field at the very bottom will be a dialog box. Second: click the hotkeys Win + R. In the dialog box, in the input field, type msconfig and press Enter. The System Configuration window will open.
Step 2
Open the Services tab. The main part of the window will display a list of services performed by the computer. If the process you want to deny is not a Windows process, check the box next to "Do not display Microsoft services." This item is at the very bottom of the window. As you can see, the list of services has been significantly reduced, making it easier to find the required process. Once found, put a check next to it, and then click on the "Apply" button, which is located in the lower right part of the window. Pay attention to the buttons "Enable all" and "Disable all". They may be needed in case, as an experiment, you want to check if the process you are looking for is among those on this list.
Step 3
Switch to the Startup tab. Here is a list of programs that are included when the operating system starts, and then hide in the tray on the taskbar. Among them, there may also be a process that you want to disable. From left to right, the list contains the name of the program, its manufacturer, the path to the exe-file on the hard disk, the location in the registry, and the date of shutdown if the process was ever shut down. Just like in the second step of the instruction, put a check mark next to the process that you want to disable, and then click the "Apply" button. There are also "Enable All" and "Disable All" buttons here. Click on "OK" to close the "System Configuration" window. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
