The Run Task menu command is perhaps the little that remains in modern versions of Windows from the days of the first operating systems, when you had to manually start processes and all executable files. But even today, this practical opportunity may be needed at the most unexpected moment.
Instructions
Step 1
The easiest way to start a process is to use the Run command from the Start menu. Traditionally, this command is located in the main menu of Windows XP. In Windows Vista, the search bar of the main menu plays a similar role. To start a process using them, enter either the name of the process and its launch parameters, or type the location and name of the executable file. Then press Enter on your keyboard.
Step 2
However, it is not always possible to start the process in this way. For example, common viruses block access to the Start menu. Thus, you will not be able to start the process through the Run command. In this case, start the Task Manager. To do this, simultaneously press the key combination Ctrl-Alt-Del. Depending on the version of Windows installed on your computer, you will either see the Task Manager window right away, or you will be taken to a menu from which you can start the Manager by selecting the appropriate command.
Step 3
To start the process using the Task Manager, go to the "File" menu. Select "New task (Run)" and in the window that appears, remotely resembling a command line, enter the location and launch parameters of the desired process or program. You can also use the Browse button by manually selecting a location and program. Click OK.
Step 4
You will see the running program or process in the list of applications on the Applications tab, as well as in the Processes tab. If you need to end the execution of the program and remove the process, select them in the general list and click the corresponding buttons on the Task Manager tabs.
