In order to be able to quickly recover the Windows operating system in the event of a failure, you must take care of creating an image of it in advance. There is a special function built into the OS for this purpose.

Instructions
Step 1
Prepare your computer to back up your system. Enable it and remove unused programs. Clean up the system partition of the hard drive. This will significantly reduce the size of the future image. Open the Start menu by pressing the appropriate key and select the Control Panel menu. Go to the "Backup and Restore" menu. It is usually located under the System and Security menu.
Step 2
Find and open the "Create a system image" item. The link to it is on the left side of the open window. Wait until the state of the system partition is evaluated and the local disks to be backed up are selected. In the "Create a system image" window that opens, select the storage location for the future archive. It is strongly not recommended to use a hard drive for this, on which this system is already installed.
Step 3
It is best to use an external USB drive. This will allow you to restore the operating system parameters even if the hard disk used is damaged. If you do not have an external drive, then specify a different (not system) partition of your hard drive.
Step 4
Check the data described in the Confirm Backup Settings menu. This window will display the local drives included in the archive. After that, click the "Archive" button and confirm the launch of this process. Do not turn off the computer or perform any other actions until the imaging of the operating system is complete.
Step 5
Go back to the Backup and Restore menu and select Create Recovery Drive. This DVD is required to run the program to use the available system recovery methods. If you have a Windows installation disc, you can use it. Do not in any way modify the contents of the system image. This can lead to permanent damage.
