To store data recorded on a DVD, many simply copy it to a hard drive. But in some cases, it makes more sense to create an image of the disc so that you can later overwrite it or use it as an alternative to this DVD.

Step 1
Use the simplest program designed to create a disk image. Download the ImgBurn utility and install it. Run the program. Once launched, select Create image file from disc. Select the DVD drive that contains the desired disc.

Now click the Create button and select the folder where you want to save the resulting image. Click the Ok button and wait for the ISO image creation to complete.
Step 3
If you need to create an image of one or more partitions of your hard disk, and not a DVD, then use the function of the Windows Seven operating system. Open Control Panel and select the "System and Security" menu.
Step 4
Now go to the "Backup and Restore" menu. In the left column will be located the item "Create a system image". Go to it. Wait for the scan of the connected equipment to complete. In the window that opens, select the location where the future image will be saved. To increase the degree of safety of this archive, it is recommended to use an external USB drive.
Step 5
Click the Next button after selecting the repository. A new window will indicate the hard disk partitions to be backed up. This is usually the volume on which the operating system is installed and the boot sector of the hard disk. Now click the "Archive" button and wait for this process to complete. Remember that you should not continue to work in the Windows environment during the creation of the archive image.
Step 6
To restore the operating system from the created image, use the Windows 7 installation disc. After starting the system setup program, select the "Advanced recovery options" option. Specify the option "Restore the system from an image". Select the required image file and click the "Restore" button. This process can take a long time.
