In the life of some novice computer users, unexpected difficulties sometimes arise, for example, the lack of a desktop, more precisely - shortcuts both on the desk itself and in the taskbar. The user simply boots up the computer, and the screen in front of him is almost blank.
Instructions
Step 1
To recover accidentally deleted shortcuts, you need to use the functions of the Windows system itself. If shortcuts to the main system folders, for example, the Trash folder, My Network Places, or Computer, have disappeared from your desktop, check the functions of the Control Panel section.
Step 2
Select the subsection "Personalization", there find the item "Icon Settings". Click on this item. When a window appears on the screen with a list of icons for the desktop, see if there are no check marks in front of the necessary system folders.
Step 3
If necessary, put a check mark next to the folders "Computer" or "Trash" and click on "Apply" and then on OK. The missing system folder shortcuts should reappear in the desktop area.
Step 4
After for some reason - accidentally or as a result of reinstalling Windows - you have removed some or all of the shortcuts on the taskbar, determine where they are supposed to be located.
Step 5
If icons disappear from the quick launch panel on the left side of the taskbar, check its properties. To do this, right-click on a free zone on the taskbar and open "Properties". In the styling area of the taskbar, look for a check mark next to Show Icons. Check the box if necessary and check if the shortcuts appear in the quick launch panel.
Step 6
If the icons disappear from the notification area on the right side of the taskbar, use its setting in the Properties menu. By clicking on the function of the same name, find the line "Always display all icons". If there is no check mark next to the line, check it.
Step 7
If in both cases the icons are still missing, drag the desired shortcuts manually to the Quick Launch, and change their display properties in the notification area in the Settings menu.
