The frequency of the RAM stick is no less important for increasing computer performance than the amount of its physical memory. RAM frequency, like any other frequency, is measured in hertz, in modern computers - in megahertz.

Step 1
The frequency of the RAM strips can be varied - 100 MHz, 444 MHz, 1066 MHz, and so on: as you can see, the spread is quite large. In modern RAM chips, the frequency usually exceeds 1 GHz.
A free utility called CPU-Z will help you find out the exact operating frequency of RAM. The program weighs only about 1 MB. You can download it on the official website of the CPU ID manufacturer in the section dedicated to CPU-Z:

In the right column on the site page, select the version of the distribution kit that you want to download, depending on your operating system: 32-bit or 64-bit. Also select the english distribution kit, in which the program interface will be in English (chinese - in Chinese). Versions signed as.zip, no installation do not need to be installed on the computer, they are a program startup file.
Step 3
Open the downloaded archive and run the program - the cpuz.exe file. If this is the first launch, the utility will take a few seconds to collect information about the system and devices. A small window of the CPU-Z utility will appear on the screen. Go to the tab called Memory. It displays detailed information about the RAM. In the Timings section, look at the DRAM Frequency setting. It also shows the exact operating frequency of the RAM strips.
Step 4
In the same tab, you can find out such parameters as the type of RAM sticks installed in your computer - the Type parameter; the total size of the memory volume of all active strips in megabytes - the Size parameter; number of channels - # Channels parameter. It also contains information about special parameters: FSB ratio: DRAM, #RAS, #CAS, Cycle Time and others.

Click OK to exit the CPU-Z program.
