You can feel the full advantage of using wireless headphones with a computer only if you also have a wireless mouse and keyboard. But, unlike headphones, these peripherals are not attached to the body and do not hold the user at the system unit like a dog on a leash. Connecting wireless headphones to a computer is not a complicated operation at all.

Instructions

Step 1

Make sure that the headphones you are purchasing have a communication device (adapter) that can be connected to the computer. Depending on the type of receiver installed in the headphones, the adapter must also work differently - some of the headphones use an infrared channel to receive data, others use a radio frequency channel, and still others are configured according to Bluetooth standards. Therefore, it is highly desirable that the adapter of the required type be included in the purchased kit, and it would not have to be selected separately, at the risk of buying an incompatible device. That being said, note that many laptops have built-in Bluetooth adapters - in this case, you don't need a Bluetooth headphone adapter.

Step 2

Connect the adapter to the appropriate connector on your computer. If you intend to use the built-in Bluetooth adapter, this step should be skipped. External adapters, as a rule, are connected to a USB port, and the computer's operating system independently recognizes each newly connected USB device and, if necessary, installs a driver for it from its own database. If for some reason the OS is unable to do this, a corresponding message will appear in the notification area of the taskbar. In this case, you will need to install the required driver yourself.

Step 3

Use the CD with the software from the set of headphones to manually install the driver - insert it into the optical disc reader and select the appropriate item from the menu that appears. Then follow the instructions in the driver installation wizard. If there is no driver disk for some reason, then you can usually find it on the website of the manufacturer of your headphone model. In this case, the corresponding file must be downloaded, unzipped if necessary, and then run the driver installation wizard.

Step 4

Place the batteries in the headphone case and turn it on if the appropriate switch is provided for your headphone model. This may be enough to start using them. If it is a Bluetooth headset, then you may need to put them in discoverable mode. When working with the built-in Bluetooth adapter in the computer, if it has not been used before, it is possible that it will need to be turned on by a mechanical switch on the laptop case.
