Instructions

Step 1

To get started, click the "Start" -> "Control Panel", and then the item, which may be called differently: "Regional and Language Options" or "Date Time Regional and Language Options".

Step 2

In the new window, select the Regional Options tab. Next, correct the drop-down menus: in the "Language Standards and Formats" specify "Russian", and in the "Location" - the country in which you live.

Step 3

Select the "Languages" tab and click on the "More" button located in the "Languages and text input services" area. Go to the "Options" tab and make sure that in the "Installed services" list the Russian language corresponds to the Russian layout. Click OK.

Step 4

Open the "Advanced" tab and in the "Language of programs that do not support Unicode" section, put "Russian". Then click the Apply and OK buttons.

Step 5

If the method described above did not help, you need to make some changes to the registry. Press the hotkeys Win + R. The Run window will appear - write regedit in its input field and press Enter on your keyboard. The Registry Editor will open. It is worth warning here that no changes, other than those indicated below, need to be made to the registry in any case - this can negatively affect the operation of the operating system.

Step 6

Open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SYSTEM / CurrentControlSet / Control / Nls / CodePage directory in it. When you get to the CodePage folder, select it with the left mouse click. A list of parameters will appear in the right window of the registry, among which you need to find 1250 and 1252 and change their values to c_1251.nls. To do this, right-click on the parameter and select "Change" in the menu that appears. A new window will open, in the Value field enter c_1251.nls. Do this for both parameters. When finished, close the registry.
