The file name is a designation that is used so that the operating system can recognize the file type and find it. The entire dataset is named differently, but the name of any file has two parts.
Instructions
Step 1
To view the file name, just right-click on the object and click "properties". You will see the name of the file in the line opposite the icon. The icon indicates the type of file.
Step 2
When you open the Properties window, you will see the extended filename. Please note that even files with the same name may differ in type. For example, the file "title.doc" would be a Word document. The file "title.jpg" is a picture and the file "title.avi" is a video file.
Step 3
Change the file name yourself. To rename a file, right-click on the object, find the line "rename". Write the name in letters or numbers, taking into account the maximum length, which should not be more than 255 characters. But keep in mind that you cannot use parentheses and various symbols in the name.
Step 4
Save information periodically as you work with any files. Go to the File menu, find the Save item. Enter the file name in the provided field and click the Save option.
Step 5
Choose a save location or leave the default. Add new properties to the saved file, labels that can be applied for further file search.
Step 6
Tags should contain words that will help organize your files. Use, for example, the name of the author and the date the file was created. Thus, you will simplify your work with documents using filtering by date and by author name.
Step 7
To add new properties to the file, select the "file" tab and the "save as" command. Enter the new information in the appropriate fields. Confirm the new values by clicking the save button.
Step 8
To organize files, the system uses a file access library. The library contains folders "documents", "images", "music", "videos". If you save the files by default, they will end up in these folders.
Step 9
To see the name of the file saved in the library, use the search bar. Enter part of the name of the saved file in the search field. You will see only those matching the request.
