Modern computers in most cases come with a preinstalled operating system with working sound. However, when you reinstall Windows or after an inexperienced user has intervened in the system, you may experience problems with the playback of sounds.
Necessary
Windows computer, Internet access
Instructions
Step 1
If you are the owner of a stationary computer, and the sound on your device does not work, first of all, check whether the speakers are connected to the system unit, whether they are included in the network and whether they are on. If you did not find any problems at this step, then the problem is most likely in the sound card driver.
Step 2
Before checking the status of the driver, check the status of the sound tray icon on the taskbar. The sound may not be played because it is turned off in the operating system itself, or the wrong channel has been selected in the sound settings. Right-click on the sound icon and check all the presented sound parameters one by one.
Step 3
If the sound still does not appear, open the "Control Panel", go to "System and Security" and then to "System", on the left in the menu select "Device Manager". In the list that opens, expand the item "Audio inputs and outputs". If the driver is installed correctly on your system, you will see the installed audio devices in the drop-down list. If you could not find this item, expand "Other devices". Perhaps one of the unidentified devices will be your sound card.
Step 4
Install the audio driver. This can be done in several ways. You can use the built-in driver finder, but very often it cannot help. If the system was unable to install the sound card on its own, you will need to download and install the driver from the Internet. Type in a search engine a query with the name of your computer and the required driver. It is best to download it from the official website of the computer manufacturer. After downloading, install the driver in the standard way and restart your computer. The sound should work.
Step 5
If, after all the steps described, you still could not connect sound on your computer, then most likely your sound card is faulty. It can fail for various reasons. Contact the service center for help or consult a specialist you know. You will need to replace the sound card with a new one yourself or with someone's help.
Step 6
Pay attention to all kinds of forums, blogs and sites, one way or another, covering the work and repair of your model's computer. Sometimes the sound won't connect because there is a bug in the driver itself or in the operating system. Experienced users of a similar computer model will probably help you to solve this problem.
