When connecting a stationary computer or laptop to a TV, sometimes there is a desire to transmit not only a video signal, but also sound. In such cases, it is most reasonable to output the audio signal directly from the video card.
Necessary
- - HDMI-HDMI cable;
- - SPDIF cable.
Instructions
Step 1
It should be noted right away that the transmission of sound and video over a single cable is possible only when using an HDMI cable. If you are using a DVI to HDMI converter, make sure that the device is designed for audio transmission. Purchase the correct cable and adapter.
Step 2
Examine the specifications of your video adapter. If it only has DVI ports, find out which one is capable of outputting audio. Connect your computer's graphics card to the HDMI port on your TV. It is also worth noting that not all TV models accept the required signal via the HDMI port.
Step 3
Turn on your computer and wait for the operating system to load. Click the Start button and go to Control Panel. Open the Hardware and Sound submenu. Select "Manage Sound Devices".
Step 4
Click the Playback tab and highlight the desired device. In this case, it will be called HDMI Digital Output. Click the "Default" button.
Step 5
Now start the video player and select the movie you want. Check the audio transmission quality. If not, open the TV settings menu. Change the main audio input source.
Step 6
If your computer has an integrated sound card, it is possible to transfer sound from the video adapter to it. To do this, you need to use a special connector. Connect this SPDIF cable to the correct slots on your motherboard. Connect the other end of the connector to the video card.
Step 7
Now connect the required audio card connector to the TV using an additional cable. It is an adapter from the mini Jack port to two RCA channels. The main advantage of this method is that you can simultaneously output various audio signals to the TV and the computer speaker.
