Due to the emergence and widespread introduction into circulation of capacious information carriers, it became possible to distribute high-quality digital video to them. Today it is possible to purchase an optical disc with very large file sizes and several external audio tracks. For further convenient storage and viewing on a home computer, it makes sense to "squeeze" such a movie, reducing its volume. It is also worth choosing and connecting the audio track to the video.
Necessary
is a free video processing software VirtuaDub available at virtualdub.org
Instructions
Step 1
Open the video to which you want to connect the audio track in the VirtualDub editor. Use the "Open video file …" item of the File menu or press F7. Navigate to the directory with the video file in the displayed dialog, select the file from the list, click the "Open" button.
Step 2
Connect an external audio track. Click on the Audio item in the main menu, then select the "Audio from other file …" item. In the file selection dialog, go to the directory where the audio track file is located. Highlight it and click Open.
Step 3
Set options for importing audio data if necessary. After selecting an audio track, the "Import Options:" dialog may appear. Select the appropriate options. In most cases, it makes sense to leave the parameter values unchanged (for example, when importing mp3 data, leave the option switch in the Autodetect position to automatically detect the bit rate). Click OK.
Step 4
Include full processing of imported audio data. Check the box next to Full processing mode in the Audio menu.
Step 5
Adjust the type and compression ratio of the audio track. Click on the "Compression …" item in the Audio menu. In the Select audio compression dialog select your preferred codec. Then highlight one of the available compression formats. Click OK.
Step 6
Change the imported audio level as needed. Click on the "Volume …" item in the Audio menu. In the Audio volume dialog, check the Adjust volume of audio channels checkbox. Use the slider to adjust the sound level. Click OK.
Step 7
Adjust the offset of the track relative to the footage. Select "Interleaving …" from the Audio menu or press Ctrl + I. In the "Audio / Video interleave Options" dialog, in the Audio skew correction group of controls, in the Delay audio track by field, enter the value of the audio track shift in milliseconds. Click OK.
Step 8
Enable copying of footage data without modification. In the Video menu, check Direct stream copy.
Step 9
Save a copy of the video with the connected track. Press the F7 key or select File and "Save as AVI …" from the menu. Specify the save directory and file name. Click the Save button. Wait for the end of the file formation process.
