When creating collages, it is often necessary to replace the background of an image or move the main element to a new background. Adobe Photoshop offers several methods for this operation.
Instructions
Step 1
If the main piece has a very complex shape, it may be easier to select the background around it. Press Q to switch to quick mask editing mode, or use this option in the toolbar. Use a hard black brush to paint over the background you want to remove. You will see that the image is covered with a red transparent film - a protective mask.
Step 2
If you accidentally hit the main fragment, set the foreground color to white and paint over the area from which you want to remove the mask. When the background is painted over, press Q again to return to normal mode. You will see that a selection appears around the main element.
Step 3
There is another way. Check the Magnetic Lasso Too on the toolbar. Click the mouse anywhere on the outline of the object and move the cursor over the outline. If an element blends in color with the background, click on the object in difficult places so that the tool can distinguish shades. You can increase the Frequency value of the knot placement frequency to more accurately determine the shape of the object. To undo an erroneous step, press Backspace.
Step 4
You can use another tool from the Lasso group - the Lasso Tool. The precision of the selection will depend only on you - this tool does not have complex settings. Hold down the left mouse button and outline the object.
Step 5
The Pen tool is not easy to use, but you can draw very precise strokes with it. Click the mouse at any point on the border between the object and the background and outline the main fragment with a polyline of short segments.
Step 6
Then select the Direct Selection Tool from the Toolbar and click on the stroke. Hook the control knot with the mouse and, moving it, change the selection outline. Again activate the "Pen" and right-click on the outline of the stroke. Select the Make Selection command.
Step 7
After you have selected the object with any of these tools, invert the selection with Ctrl + Shift + I and press Delete or Backspace to remove the background.
