AutoCAD software is a universal graphics editor that can be used to solve a variety of tasks: creating 2D and 3D objects and drawings in cartography and geodesy, in design in construction and mechanical engineering, etc. In this case, it is often necessary to calculate the area of an object or a constructed figure. This can be done using the Object Properties palette.

Instructions

Step 1

Launch the AutoCAD program on your computer. Open the required dwg file (drawing) and find the required object on it. To determine its area, we extract information about it using the object properties palette.

Step 2

In this case, your drawing must be in model space. If the open drawing is in paper space, navigate to the model by clicking on the corresponding tab spine located at the bottom of the program's drawing area. The spine of the tab contains the inscription "Model". If the spines are hidden, they can be displayed by right-clicking the Model button on the status bar and choosing Display Layaout and Model Tabs from the pop-up menu.

Step 3

Click the left mouse button on the "Zoom" button located on the status bar and define the zoom box so that you can get a better view of the desired subject by zooming in on it.

Step 4

Then, select the object by hovering over its border anywhere and clicking with the left mouse button. The object is highlighted, the anchor points of the corners of the shape appear. Be careful - the boundary of the object must be closed.

Step 5

Now select the command "View" (View) on the tab of the same name, located on the quick access panel. The Quick Access Toolbar is located at the top of the workspace under the title bar of the AutoCAD product. Click on the View tab and go to Palettes from the pop-up menu, then Properties.

Step 6

The properties palette of the selected object has opened in front of you. In the Properties palette, you are interested in the "Area" item. It also indicates the area of your figure. The program calculated it itself.
