There is a fairly common problem when, when clicking on links in instant messaging programs such as ICQ or Skype, the page opens not in the usual browser, but in Opera. We tolerate this for some time, since we don’t want to call the master just because of this, but then we decide to close this issue once and for all.
Instructions
Step 1
The first way will allow us to remove Opera. Click "Start", select "Control Panel". In this case, either a separate window should open, or a list will open in the "Start" menu itself.
Step 2
We select "Add and Remove Programs". A new window should open, which will not immediately display the programs to uninstall, as Windows collects data about currently installed programs. We are waiting until the entire list of programs appears.
Step 3
Find the line with Opera, select it with the mouse. When selected, the row will become wider and a “delete” button will appear.
Step 4
To remove Opera, click "Remove". The uninstall program window will appear. In older versions of Opera, a window may appear prompting you to delete all user data. If you are not going to use Opera anymore, then it is better to delete everything so that you do not take up space on your computer and do not leave information about your passwords. It is necessary to press "Next" until "Finish" appears, and in the latest versions of Opera - the "Delete" button.
Step 5
There is another way that allows you to remove Opera from the default programs. The fact is that the Windows system chooses the program that needs to execute this or that user command. So, when you click on the links, the system sees that they need to be opened using Opera. You just need to replace it with another browser. To do this, repeat items 1 through 3, inclusive.
Step 6
On the left, select the "Select default programs" section and then the "Custom" setting configuration, since you want to fix the default programs instead of using the default settings.
Step 7
In the "Select your default internet browser" section, check the box next to your favorite browser. Click OK.
