Restoration of damaged system files of the Microsoft Windows operating system can be performed in several ways using standard tools of the system itself.
Instructions
Step 1
Call the main menu of the Microsoft Windows operating system by clicking the "Start" button to perform the operation of restoring damaged system files and go to the "All Programs" item.
Step 2
Expand the "Standard" link and open the context menu of the "Command Line" element by right-clicking.
Step 3
Specify the Run as Administrator command and enter sfc in the command interpreter text box.
Step 4
Define and use the required command syntax:
- / scannow - for immediate scanning of all system files;
- / scanonce - to perform the scan operation at the next system boot;
- / scanboot - to perform a scan operation on every boot;
- / revert - to return to the original system parameters;
- / purgecache - to clear the cache of application files;
- / cachesize = x - to determine the desired size of the secure cache.
Step 5
Confirm the execution of the command by pressing the function key Enter or return to the main menu "Start" to restore damaged system files using the built-in utility "System Restore".
Step 6
Go to "execute" and enter the value
rstrui.exe
in the "Open" field.
Step 7
Confirm the execution of the command by clicking OK or use an alternative method of starting the utility.
Step 8
Return to the main Start menu again and go to All Programs.
Step 9
Expand the Accessories link and select the Utilities node.
Step 10
Run the System Restore utility and specify the Restore an earlier system state option in the dialog box that opens.
Step 11
Specify the desired date of system recovery in the new dialog box "Checkpoint selection" and confirm your choice by clicking the "Next" button.
Step 12
Confirm the execution of the command again in the next dialog box by clicking the "Next" button and wait for the computer to restart.
