The MS Outlook application, whose main task is to receive and send mail messages, is one of the most popular programs in its class. It owes a lot to the integration with other applications of the MS Office suite, which makes it indispensable for use in corporate correspondence and invests its share in its distribution. However, it is also very convenient for home use.
Instructions
Step 1
To set up mail for Outlook, go to your mailbox settings page online. Find in them the settings of programs for collecting mail. Most often, a separate page with reference information is devoted to this.
Step 2
With Outlook open, go to the Tools menu and select Email Accounts. Check the box next to "Add new …" and click next. On the Outlook mailbox settings page, find and specify the type of server from which letters will be retrieved.
Step 3
In the next window, enter your personal information: username, password, personal information, as well as the exact addresses of the servers of incoming and outgoing mail. To set up mail on Outlook without errors, copy them from the mailbox settings web page.
Step 4
If necessary, specify other server settings by clicking the corresponding button. These typically include connection encryption settings and server ports. Information on them is also on-line on the mailbox reference page.
Step 5
After filling in all the mail settings on Outlook, click the "Check Account" button. Using the specified parameters, the program will try to establish connections with both incoming and outgoing mail servers. As a result of the attempt, you will see the corresponding service message. If all the settings were specified correctly, now you can use mail on Outlook, storing all messages on the hard drive of your computer, instead of logging into the mailbox on-line every time.
