Step 1
Drag the photo into Photoshop or find it through the dialog box (File -> Open). When the photo opens, use a rectangular selection to select the part of the image where the frame will not be. Then in the "Selection" menu click "Invert". As a result of these manipulations, you will have selected the part of the photo that will become the frame in the future.

Then open the Layers panel with the F7 button. Copy the fragment to a new layer - (Ctrl + J). In this case, you will be able to modify only the frame. The rest of the image will not be affected by subsequent operations.

Right-click on the border layer and select Blending Options from the drop-down menu. The window that opens next is called "Layer Style". This window has many settings and options that provide great opportunities for creating frames - for almost every taste. You can make a strong and simple black stroke or a beautiful colored border with texture, shadows, glitter and other effects.

First of all, pay attention to the item "Embossing" and its sub-items "Contour" and "Texture". Here you can choose a pattern for the future frame. The program has a set of ready-made textures for all occasions. It is possible to adjust the size of the texture, its strength, depth, sharpness and some other parameters.
Another item - "Color overlay", allows you to choose a color for the future frame, brightness, contrast and much more. You can also make the frame semi-transparent. In the Embossing menu, you can adjust the effects so that the frame looks three-dimensional, three-dimensional. You can also apply gradients, gloss, glows, shadows and much, much more.
