If there are various failures during the operation of the wireless Internet, the first question to ask yourself is how do I know who is connected to my Wi-Fi? This is easy to do, just go to the router's settings or watch the state of the connection speed.
Instructions
Step 1
See if the wireless connection is password protected. Click on the Internet access icon located in the lower right screen of the Windows desktop on the taskbar. Right click on your wireless connection and go to properties. The security type must be set to WPA2-Personal. Below you need to come up with and enter a password, which will be used to connect to the network. If this is not done, any person within a radius of 50-100 meters, for example, a neighbor from another apartment, can freely connect to your Wi-Fi point.
Step 2
Check your internet connection speed to see if someone else is connected to Wi-Fi. To do this, you can use one of the measuring sites, for example, speedtest.net or yandex.ru/internet. Pass the proposed test and compare the obtained indicators with the nominal ones, which your connection must correspond to according to the agreement with the provider. If the speed is noticeably slower, it is possible that someone else is using Wi-Fi at the moment. It can also be noticeable to the naked eye, for example, while downloading files or watching streaming video - if the speed has dropped, you need to think about the reason.
Step 3
If you are still worried about the question - how to find out who is connected to my Wi-Fi - use the data from the web interface of your router. Open an Internet browser on a computer or other device connected to Wi-Fi, and enter the IP address of the router in the address bar. This is usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. Login and password for entering - the word admin (if the address or password does not fit, study the help information for the router).
Step 4
Wait for the D-Link web interface to load and go to the advanced settings item. In the item "Status" find the link "Clients" and click on it. A list of all devices that are currently connected to Wi-Fi should be displayed here. Their IP addresses will be marked instead of their names. It is enough to count how many, for example, devices are now connected to the wireless network in your apartment. If there are more, most likely someone else has connected to your Wi-Fi. In this case, you need to immediately change the password for connecting to this network or set it if you have not done so already. This is the only way to protect your home network from intruders and intruders.
