Many anti-virus systems are not easy to disable - the protection settings are often set so that malware cannot bypass them. At the same time, a complete shutdown of the program is impossible by simply exiting it - it is only possible to temporarily disable protection or to terminate the process forcibly through the task manager or uninstall the program.

Instructions

Step 1

Open the main window of Norton Antivirus. In the settings of the protection parameters in the "Automatic protection" tab, set the value of temporary disabling of protection - an hour or two, until the computer is restarted, etc. At the same time, you cannot completely disable the program, since such an item is not provided by the developers at all. This is due to the special protection settings of your file system; many malicious programs can terminate applications on behalf of the user.

Step 2

Try disabling your antivirus in another way. Press the Alt + Ctrl + Del key combination, and a small window will appear on your screen - this is the task manager. Select the "Processes" tab in it, find the word EGUI.

Step 3

Right-click on it and select End Process or End Process Tree. The system will issue a warning that this action may affect the operation of other programs, so disable the antivirus only if it is really necessary and do not forget to enable it for further protection later.

Step 4

If you want to disable the Norton antivirus system and then uninstall it, click on the "Start" menu, select the "Norton Internet Security" folder in the installed programs. Select, if available, the item "Uninstall the program" and, following the instructions of the system, perform the desired action. You can also uninstall the program through the "Control Panel" by going to the "Add or Remove Programs" menu.

Step 5

Find the antivirus program in the list, select "Uninstall". If the system fails to uninstall because the program is running, use the task manager and end the process in the same way as described in the previous step. This item is not recommended for use, since the computer must be protected by an anti-virus system.
