Windows Defender is the standard antivirus built into the Windows operating system starting from Vista. However, this service is not very reliable and consumes system resources. You can disable it if necessary.
Instructions
Step 1
Log in to the system with an administrator account. If you are logged in as a regular user or guest, the disable Windows Defender feature and some other features will not be available.
Step 2
Open the "Start" menu and click once on the "Control Panel" icon. You will see a folder with a lot of all kinds of system services. Select Windows Defender or Windows Defender. Double click on the icon with the left mouse button to open it. To stop the antivirus service, you will first need to gain access to the application control and also update the signature database if the system reported that the current database is out of date. If an automatic scan of the system for viruses started when the Defender was started, it is better to wait until it finishes so that there are no possible sources of threat at the time the program is turned off.
Step 3
Click on the Programs tab at the top of the window. You will see a settings menu in which you can deactivate certain functions, as well as completely disable Windows Defender. In order for the antivirus to stop annoying with constant pop-up windows, it is enough to disable real-time protection and automatic scanning, but if you want to completely disable the operating system defender, uncheck the box next to the "Use the program" item. Restart your computer for all changes to take effect.
Step 4
Disconnect your internet connection before proceeding to deactivate your antivirus. Otherwise, the system may appear defenseless against various malicious viruses. The internet connection icon is usually located on the taskbar. Right-click on it and launch the context menu. Select the "Disconnect" item in it and click on it. As soon as the connection to the Internet is disconnected, you can proceed to work with the Windows Defender application.
