Instructions

Step 1

Most of the files and folders are not immediately deleted from the computer, but placed in the trash. If you need to completely delete a folder, any of the steps below should end up emptying the trash.

Step 2

To delete files from the trash can, move the mouse cursor to the Trash icon on the desktop, right-click on it and select the Empty Trash command from the drop-down menu. Confirm your actions in the request window. Alternatively, open the Trash item and select the same command from the Typical Task Pane.

Step 3

The folder itself can be deleted in the following ways. Move the mouse cursor to the folder you no longer need, right-click on its icon and select the "Delete" command from the context menu. In the request window, confirm the operation by clicking on the "Yes" button. The folder will be placed in the trash can.

Step 4

Another option is more suitable if you need to delete several folders at once. Hold down the left mouse button and select the folders you want to delete. Repeat the steps in the previous step.

Step 5

Another way to delete using the mouse: move the cursor to the folder icon, hold down the left mouse button and drag the folder icon to the trash can icon on the desktop. Confirm your actions in the request window.

Step 6

If you are more accustomed to using the keyboard, select the folder you want to place in the trash, press the Delete key. When the system asks for confirmation of the operation, press the Enter key.

Step 7

In the event that you cannot remember which directory the folder is located in, first use the "Search" component. Click on the "Start" button or the Windows key, select "Search" from the menu. In the window that opens, specify the search criteria and click on the "Find" button. When the folder you are looking for is found, delete it using any of the methods described above, right from the search engine window.
