Instructions
Step 1
The Grand Theft Auto series is famous not only for its unique storyline, but also for its absolutely controllable graphics, i.e. change it. Familiar cities change in a few minutes, provided that special software is used. All texture files for in-game cities are stored in a large archive gta3.img.
Step 2
To open this archive, you need to install the ImgTool program, which can be downloaded from the following link https://gta.com.ua/file_sa_download.phtml?id=144. Click the "Download" item, specify the directory to save and press the Enter key. Installation consists in unpacking the downloaded archive and copying the executable file to any directory, for example, the desktop (for quick access).
Step 3
After starting the program, click the top File menu and select Open. In the window that opens, find the folder with the program and open the Models directory. Inside this folder there is a gta3.img file that needs to be opened. Now texture files of the whole game will be displayed in the main program window.
Step 4
The files to be replaced can only be of the dff or txd extensions, the program simply will not accept other files. First of all, you need to find the files that will be replaced, for example ak47.dff and bomb.dff. For a quick search, it is recommended to press the top Edit menu and select the Find item. Enter the file name and press the Enter key.
Step 5
Delete the files you are looking for, because you will replace them. Now click the top Commands menu and choose Add. In the window that opens, select the files and click the "Open" button. Use the Shift or Ctrl keys to select multiple files.
Step 6
To finish working with this program, you need to update the archive, to do this, click the top Commands menu and select the Rebuild Archive item. Then the top menu File and the item Close.
