The driver is necessary for the system installed on your computer to be able to recognize the device, be it a scanner, printer or video card. Usually, the driver comes with the hardware for which it is intended, but if there is no installation disc, a new driver can be found on the Internet.

Step 1

Determine the manufacturer, model and series of equipment (devices) for which you want to select a new driver. This information can be obtained from various sources. The first is, of course, the hardware documentation. But if you do not have documents, this is not a problem.

Step 2

If a new driver is required for a scanner, printer, tablet, monitor, or other similar equipment, check the name, series, and model on the case. Most often, manufacturers place this information on the front panel along with their logo.

Step 3

If the device is embedded, use the Device Manager component or open the properties window of the required device. For complete information about the video card, you can use the DirectX Diagnostic Tool (Start menu, Run command, dxdiag, OK button).

Step 4

After the required data is determined, launch the browser and go to the official website of the developer of the equipment you need. On the main page, select the "Drivers" ("Support & Drivers") section.

Step 5

In the search field, enter the model and series of your device, wait until the list of available drivers is generated. Select the driver you need, select the operating system installed on your computer.

Step 6

Download the driver you need, saving it to a directory you can find yourself. Wait for the download to complete. Go to the directory where you saved the driver and click on its icon with the left mouse button. These files are usually named setup.exe or install.exe.

Step 7

Most drivers are installed automatically. Follow the instructions in the Installation Wizard to install the driver on your computer. Restart your operating system if required. If the driver is not installed automatically, read the instructions for installing it - this information should also be contained on the developer's official website.
