Step 1
There are several options for removing the Windows Vista operating system from a desktop or laptop computer. First, try uninstalling the OS while installing a new operating system.

Insert the Windows installation disc into your DVD drive and turn on your computer. Press the F8 or F12 key to enter the boot device menu. Select the above drive. Press the Enter key.

Begin the process of installing a new operating system. Wait for the window to appear with the choice of a hard disk partition to install the OS. Further, there are two options for further actions. If you are installing Windows XP, then select the partition on which Vista is currently installed.

Press the Win + E keyboard shortcut. The My Computer menu opens. Right click on the hard disk partition where Vista is installed. Select "Format".
