To save free space on the hard disk of your computer, you can compress it. Today, such an operation can be performed in two ways.
Necessary
PC, hard drive
Instructions
Step 1
Compression of the hard disk followed by automatic compression of the recorded files. In order to save more space on your hard drive, you first need to go to the "My Computer" folder. After opening it, select the device you need (according to the standard, the hard drive is divided into two sectors: "C" and "D"). Click on the selected device with the left mouse button and select the "Properties" section. After you go to the properties of the hard drive, open the "General" tab and at the bottom of the open window, check the box next to "Compress this drive to save space." The compression procedure will take a certain amount of time (the more files are stored on the disk, the longer the compression procedure will take). After the compression is complete, some memory will be freed up on the device. In the future, each file written to the hard disk will be automatically compressed.
Step 2
Compressing a specific file on disk. Unlike the previous method, this method involves compressing one or several specific files. To perform compression, you need to select a specific document (if you need to compress several documents, select them at once), then right-click on the selection. In the window that opens, select the "Properties" section, and on the "General" tab, click on the "Other" button. Here you need to check the box next to "Compress content to save disk space" and then save the changes. The file will be compressed by the system, thereby reducing its size.
