Step 1
Among the known methods of controlling the resolution of a laptop screen, there are two most available: controlling the screen size by means of a video card driver and using the capabilities of the operating system itself (Windows 7).

The first method can be used if you have a separate video card in your system. For the installed video card, it is important to download the drivers from the official site. Do not forget that when loading drivers, you must specify the version of the operating system so that there are no conflicts when installing them.

After the drivers have been installed, the laptop should be restarted by selecting the "Restart computer now" option and clicking the "Finish" button. You can also click on the "Start" button and select "Turn off" by clicking on the "Restart" button (for Windows 7, click on the side arrow and select the appropriate item).

After booting up the computer, run the application so that you can navigate when resizing the image. Minimize the application and right-click on an empty space on the desktop. From the drop-down context menu, select the "Properties" item.
Step 5
You will see a window for setting screen properties, go to the "Options" tab. Use the slider to change the screen resolution. When the desired value is reached, release the slider and click the "Apply" button.

Rebuild the app and see if you've reduced the size enough. If everything suits you, click the "OK" button, otherwise you should click the "Cancel" button. Try decreasing the resolution again, then repeat the above operation.
Step 7
In new versions of operating systems, for example, in Windows 7, it became possible to quickly change the screen resolution. In fact, this is the same way that you adjust the driver values, but they take less time to complete. Right-click on an empty space on the desktop and select "Screen Resolution".
Step 8
In the window that opens, play with the slider by selecting the desired value and save the result by clicking the corresponding button.
