The size of a Microsoft Word document depends both on the presence of images in the text and on the type of file in which the document is saved. By getting rid of unnecessary images or saving the file in the "correct" format, the document size can sometimes be reduced several times.

Step 1
First, remove all unnecessary pictures from the text. If none of the images can be donated, try to cut them out first, then reduce their volume using any graphics editor, and then insert the images into the document again.

For example, if an image in BMP format was originally added to the text, then after saving the same image in JPEG, you will reduce the size of the final file by 10-15 times! And if you need to change the resolution of the picture to the required size, you can win up to 80% of the original volume!
Step 3
If you do not have the original files with pictures at your disposal, and having cut them out, you cannot save them, use a little trick. Open the document on the desired page and take a "screenshot" (screenshot).
Step 4
To do this, press the Prt Sc key on the keyboard, then open the Paint graphic editor and press Ctrl and V at the same time. The image will appear on the screen. Crop the background and save the picture with the "Save As" command in JPEG format.
Step 5
To reduce the size of a Word document that does not contain illustrations, sometimes it is enough to save it in docx format. To do this, you must have Microsoft Office 2007 or 2010 installed on your computer. To save the document in the required format, select the Save As command from the menu and set the File Type field to Word Document.
Step 6
If you select Word 97-2003 Document, the file will be 3-5 times larger. However, keep in mind that a docx ("Word Document") file will only open with Word 2007 or 2010.
