The amount of RAM directly affects the speed of the computer - the higher it is, the faster the system works. Usually, the user knows the parameters of the RAM installed on the computer. But when working on an unfamiliar computer or if you have problems with performance, you may need to look at the information on the random access memory.

You can find out the size of the RAM using the standard Windows capabilities, but this information will be rather general. Right-click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop and select "Properties" from the context menu. A window will open, in its lower part you can see information about some of the parameters of the computer, including the size of the RAM.

Open Command Prompt (Console): Start - All Programs - Accessories - Command Prompt. Enter the systeminfo command in the window that opens and press Enter. The information displayed will contain information about the configuration of the computer, including the size of the RAM.

The most complete information about the components of a computer can be obtained using specialized test utilities. One of the best programs in this class is Aida64 (Everest), you can find it on the net. Download and run the program, in the left column of the window that opens, select: "Computer" - "Summary information". General information about the computer will appear on the right side of the window, in the "Motherboard" section you will find data on the type and size of RAM.

Even more detailed information about RAM can be shown by the Astra32 program, it can also be found on the net. Run the program, before that, close all applications. By selecting the section "Memory modules" in the right part of the program window, you can get detailed information on all lines of RAM.

In the event that your computer has a good processor, a decent video card and enough RAM, but the system is too slow and from time to time reports a lack of resources, the problem may lie in the incorrect RAM settings.
